ePortfolio Hong Kong & New Zealand 2007 Call for Contributions
Call for contributions
We have pleasure in inviting policy-makers, human resource professionals, learning professionals and suppliers of learning technology solutions to submit their contributions to one of the 3 events. Presenters and authors are invited to submit an abstract of their contributions – which will be published in the Conference packs - by 2 January, 2007 - on the following suggested themes:
- Territorial policies – what policies should be implemented at local, regional, national and international level to realise the potential of the ePortfolio? How can the ePortfolio contribute to the development of individuals (human capital) and territories (social capital)? What are the conditions for success?
- Celebrating cultural identity - how can ePortfolios support and celebrate the cultural diversity of individuals and territories? Is the format of an ePortfolio tied to cultural identity?
- Initial education – what is the impact of the ePortfolio on pedagogical methods and information systems in educational establishments? What competencies are needed by teaching and administrative personnel?
- Telling my story – what is the role of the ePortfolio in respect of such traditional practices as autobiography or personal story-telling?
- Validation of competencies – how to integrate the ePortfolio into current practice? What might be the impact on methods and results? How could the ePortfolio help meet the challenge of talent management?
- Personal Development – how can the ePortfolio contribute to increased autonomy and effectiveness in the management of one’s personal and professional development?
- Transition – how can the ePortfolio contribute to a better transition between different learning episodes (for example between school and university?)
- Sectoral policies – how can the ePortfolio contribute to the development of competencies in an economic or professional sector? What policies should be put in place? Are certain sectors more suited to ePortfolio use than others?
- Recognition of prior experience and competencies – how can the ePortfolio contribute to current approaches? Could it also promote the emergence of informal recognition – for example by communities of practice?
- Learning communities and organisations – what is the relationship between an individual’s ePortfolio and those of a community or organisation?
- Migration and mobility – how can the ePortfolio contribute to a better integration of migrant workers in the world of work and in society?
- Management of the knowledge and competencies of the work-force – how can the ePortfolio contribute to systems of knowledge and competency management of groups and organisations?
- Language learning – how can the ePortfolio contribute to the acquisition and maintenance of language skills?
- Employability – what role for the ePortfolio in the transparency of qualifications, mobility, Europass, the validation of experience and continuing professional development.
- Assessment– how can the ePortfolio contribute to the transformation of methods of assessment of individuals and groups – i.e. authentic assessment and assessment for learning?
- Lifelong learning: How might the ePortfolio transform our approach to lifelong learning?
Abstract layout
Abstracts must follow these formats to be eligible for review.
They should be less than 1500 words (This does not include title and authors) and should contain the following information:
1. Theme and issues addressed (from list above)
2. Title of the presentation
3. Authors' names and institution (last name preceding first name or initials): omit degrees, titles, and institutional appointments of co-authors. Underline the name of the person(s) making the presentation.
4. Abstract suggested structure (1500 words max)
- Background or context
- Objectives
- Summary of results
- Conclusions and recommendations
5. Address, e-mail and telephone number
Deadline, notification and registration
- 14 February 2007: deadline for receipt of abstracts. Presenters will be notified by e-mail by 19 February
- 2 March 2007: deadline for receipt of presentations and corrected abstracts, which will be available to conference participants
