ePortfolio & Digital Identity 2008, Maastricht 22-24 October 2008

This year's conference challenge is "breaking boundaries for human capital development and social innovation." The objective is to explore how digital technologies, and in particular ePortfolios and digital identities, are transforming individual and organisational learning and development.

Draft programme now online

The draft programme for the 6th international conference on the ePortfolio is now online.

Key Conference themes for 2008:

The event features top-level plenary presentations, open fora, a full-day workshop, a series of other workshops, special interest group meetings and parallel presentations.

Keynote speakers confirmed include Stephen Downes, National Research Council, Canada, Darren Cambridge, George Mason University, USA, Barbara Cambridge, National Council of Teachers of English, USA, Erik Driessen, University of Maastricht (to be confirmed).

A special plenary session devoted to the ePortfolio for regions and territories will feature presentations by Paul Wasko, eFolio Minnesota, Paul Messer, Careers Wales, Jangui Le Carpentier, Région Basse-Normandie and Rens de Groot, the Netherlands.

Helen Barrett, international ePortfolio consultant, will be running a 1-day interactive workshop on 22 October on 'Building a Personal Learning Environment in the Web 2.0 Cloud'.

Special interest group meetings

This year's event will reflect the importance of well-established and new special interest groups in the ePortfolio domain and offer members an opportunity to meet and share experiences. Groups include ePortfolios in Regions and Territories, Healthcare ePortfolio, ePortfolio Research, Interoperability, and Digital Identity.

ePortfolio 2008 online community established

Join us for pre-conference activities. Once you are registered as speaker or delegate, you can join existing groups or create you own to address the different topics of the conference. One of the first groups created is related to regional strategies for ePortfolio.

iLearning Forum 2009, Paris 19-20 January 2009

The next iLearning Forum International Conference and Exhibition  will take place at the Palais des Congrès, Paris on 19-20 January 2009.

1 Event, 2 Conferences! - iLearning Forum and RAC

The theme of this year's iLearning Forum is 'Integrated learning: embedding learning technologies for individual and organisational development'. Join international learning professional colleagues to encounter and explore state of the art practice in the use of technology for education and the development and management of human resources.

This year's event will be enriched by a parallel event, the first francophone and international conference on the recognition and validation of achievement and competencies, in cooperation with the organisers of the major Montreal conference on the same theme (RAC 2006 and RAC 2008).

iLearning call for contributions now open

Contributions in English and French are invited for iLearning Forum. The deadline for receipt of abstracts (min 500, max 750 words) is 30 September.

RAC 2009, Paris 19-20 January 2009

The objective of RAC 2009 is to explore the state of the art in the field of recognition and accreditation of competencies to encourage policy and decision makers to design advanced policies and practitioners to take on board the most advanced practices in a field of rapid progression.
EIfEL is delighted to announce that the RAC will be organised in partnership with the GARF, the Association for French professionals responsible for the development of competencies in organisations.

RAC 2009 call for contributions now open

Contributions in English and French are invited for iLearning Forum. The deadline for receipt of abstracts (min 500, max 750 words) is 30 September.

The themes of the call for contributions are.
  1. Formal vs informal recognition of learning achievements. The objective of this theme is to explore the range and diversity of recognition processes between informal and formal recognition.
  2. Recognition of learning achievements across cultures and countries. The objective of this track is to explore the methods and tools to facilitate recognition of competencies and qualifications.
  3. Recognition of competencies and innovation. The objective of this track is to explore how it is possible to identify and recognise emerging competencies -- a large percentage of the jobs in 10 years time might require competencies that do not even have a name today!
  4. Quality control of learning achievements certification processes. The objective of this track is to explore the methods to ensure that formal systems of recognition provide consistant outcomes across a range of providers.
