EIfEL's 5th annual General Assembly
The Institute recently celebrated 5 years of activity. Since February 2001, EIfEL has established itself as one of the key actors in the European learning landscape, contributing to both policy and practice. Among our achievements are the production of standards of competence for eLearning professionals, a guide to eLearning solutions, leadership of the ePortfolio movement in Europe, active involvement in the promotion of eLearning quality and interoperability, participation in over 20 European projects and a growing membership base enabling us to stay at the forefront of the creation of a learning Europe.
The Institute’s leadership in the domain of the ePortfolio was been consolidated last year. 2006 will add other landmarks to our 2010 campaign ePortfolio for all – after Salzburg, Odense, Cambridge and Auckland in 2005. It starts with the first francophone ePortfolio conference in Québec (10-12 April 2006) and culminates with the 4th international ePortfolio conference next October, where the first results of the ePortfolio Study will be presented.
EIfEL is also at the origin of the creation of the European Foundation for Quality in E-Learning (EFQUEL). The idea was initially formulated by EIfEL during a meeting of the German learning regions project in Köln in 2004. EFQUEL is now establishing its leadership in delivering a European quality mark for the relevant use of technology in all forms of learning provision.
Launch of "eStrategies for Empowering Individuals" an ePortortfolio and Europass study
In the morning of the Annual General Assembly EIfEL will launch a major European and international study on ePortfolio and Europass readiness. This study, led by the Europortfolio Consortium, will identify and analyse the conditions necessary for the emergence of successful ePortfolio and EUropass initiatives, both in Europe and internationally, in order to provide a framework for future developments:
-
Policies – how can the ePortfolio movement interface with European initiatives such as Europass and the European Qualifications Framework?
-
People – how can ePortfolios contribute to the development of a competent and mobile work-force?
-
Organisations – what internal policies and procedures are being developed to implement ePortfolios?
-
Information systems – what interoperability framework do we need for ePortfolios?
The study, run by a series of national coordinators working with experts under the supervision of a steering committee representing the subscribers, will provide a detailed framework to help organisations and public authorities to design the learning strategies of the 21st century
