Themes

ePortfolio 2007 will bring together people from industry, research, public employment, schools, higher education to present and discuss their work in the context of several urgent social challenges to insure Employability and Lifelong Learning in the Knowledge Society.

The idea is to present and discuss the challenges from different perspectives (employers, policy makers, researchers, practitioners, etc.) and we hope to conclude the conference with concrete recommendations for policy makers in the field.

This is a list of topics for the call:

Policy

  • P1    Role of ePortfolio vis à vis international, national, regional and local agendas and policies – OECD, Europe (Lisbon, Bologna, Copenhagen and Maastricht); national, regional and local strategies
  • P2    Lifelong and lifewide learning systems, models, methods, tools, implementations and experiences
  • P3    Public/Private Partnerships, at local, regional and inter-regional level.
  • P4    Legislation, copyright and IPR management.
  • P5    Social inclusion
  • P6    Literacy, qualifications and qualification frameworks
  • P7    Intelligent and learning region

Economic innovation and employability in the knowledge society and economy – actual and potential impact of ePortfolios on:

  • E1    Matching competencies demand with provision – visibility of competencies in a territory; ‘territorial ePortfolio’ encouraging new business;  public and private  recruitment services
  • E2    Intelligent and learning organisation -  organisational learning; models and tools supporting work-based learning; development of organisational ePortfolios; integrating knowledge and competency development and management;
  • E3    Competency and talent management– identification, development, anticipation of change and emerging competencies; integration of competency frameworks in ePortfolios; self-management of development by employees; assessment of competencies and performance
  • E4    Increasing SME (small and medium enterprises) participation in learning activities
  • E5    Managing transition - management across life and work episodes
  • E6    Personal and continuing professional development, personal assets management and career planning.

Social and cultural

  • S1    Community learning – encouraging intergenerational exchanges by valorising the talents of digital natives and  the assets of retired people in order to contribute to community intelligence; collaboration and informal learning by community groups
  • S2    Preservation of cultural identity and heritage -  ePortfolios for recording and story-telling to capture community history and culture
  • S3    Migration and mobility - providing a transferable, accessible means of evaluating the competencies and other qualities of migrant workers
  • S4    Accessibility and gender issues related to lifelong competence development – equality of opportunity for under-represented or marginalised groups

Pedagody, andradogy, didactics and implementation

  • D1    Providing the right competencies for the job market
  • D2    Support for formal, non-formal and informal learning - encouraging autonomous, self-directed and self-managed learning; applying new methodologies and practices related to learning, competence development and knowledge management; methods and tools for learner support in distributed lifelong learning environments
  • D3    Learning communities, community learning and communities of practice – providing personalised collaborative learning support
  • D4    Authentic assessment – using ePortfolios for accreditation of prior learning (APL) and for formal and informal recognition of learning and experience
  • D5    Managing initiatives at class, course, institution, district, local, regional, national levels - adoption factors; gaining the support of stakeholders to ensure success
  • D6    Competencies for the design, implementation and development of ePortfolios
  • D7    Evidence of ePortfolio benefits to individuals and institutions
  • D8    Quality assurance and quality improvement – using ePortfolios to ensure and demonstrate the quality of the learning experience

  • T4    Discovery of learning resources based on learners' profile
  • T5    Personal learning environments – for integration and navigational support of users learning in a distributed work and learning environment
  • T6    Authoring, discovery, advice and/or exchange of knowledge resources, learning activities or courses.
  • T7    Authentification, privacy and access control of personal data – federation of identities and services
  • T8    Automatic exploitation of ePortfolio contents – CV generation, data mining, query systems, etc.
  • T9    Benefits of social and collaborative software: filtering technologies, recommendation systems, knowledge sharing, profile matching, trust building, etc.
