about the second ePortfolio Plugfest
Warning: this Plugfest is not for the faint hearted! It is an event designed for technical specialists or for those with a good technical background.
The 2006 ePortfolio Plugfest is a combination of:
-
Tests – of ePortfolio systems conformance against specifications and standards
-
Demonstrations – of advanced features facilitating communication through ePortfolios
-
Presentations – to put the focus on key issues
An open space divided into thematic areas, plus a presentation area, has been designed to explore:
1. HR systems integration – job application, recruitment, competency development, training management, Europass, etc. – to support employment and staff development.
2. Education and training systems integration – registrars, LMS, VLE, LIP, etc. – to support learning, continuous development, assessment and accreditation of learning
3. Identity management – Shibboleth, Liberty Alliance, federation of identity, federation of services, - to support seamless integration of learning services across platforms and services
4. Mobile and Social integration
– ePortfolios on PDAs or mobile phones for recording achievements, etc. Using state of the art technology to record evidence anytime, anywhere.
– social software, semantic web, RSS, P2P, etc. Integrating ePortfolios for community and organisational learning.

5. Conformance testing & certification – against recognised specifications standards and application profiles – to insure interoperability and promote market uptake.
Each area is supervised by a moderator who is responsible for its animation. A list of staged demonstrations and presentations is available on the programme page. More demonstrations and presentations will be available in the different thematic areas.
